As a result, this Examinations Format booklet has been changed to reflect those changes. The subjects included in this document and required of candidates sitting for the CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION EXAMINATION are as prescribed by Circular Number 1 of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MOEVT) in April 2006. It consists of seven core/compulsory subjects, as well as bias and optional subjects. Matokeo form Four 2022-2023

Civics, History, Geography, Kiswahili, English Language, Biology, and Mathematics are the seven basic subjects. The MOEVT Circular specifies the list of bias and optional subjects (attached as Annex 1). Candidates in the Science stream will be tested in Physics and Chemistry, in addition to the seven required bias, and optional topics.
For those seven essential courses, new curricula have been developed.

The new curriculum was implemented in secondary schools in 2005, and it will be tested for the first time in the CSEE in October 2008. Physics and Chemistry curricula, which were still being revised in 2007, are slated to be implemented in January 2008. In 2011, they will be tested for the first time in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination. Meanwhile, the 1997 syllabuses will be used for Physics and Chemistry topics, as well as bias and elective subjects.

This Examinations Format Booklet contains the forms for all of the subjects that will be tested in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination beginning in October 2008. The main goal is to establish a single Booklet on Examinations Format for all of the subjects examined in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination so that users may easily refer to it.

This Booklet is intended to provide additional assistance to teachers on examination methods, notably the use of the Table of Specifications in setting examinations. Teachers are strongly urged to adopt these format models while assessing their students in order to align their assessment procedures with those employed by Tanzania’s National Examinations Council.

The Examinations Format Booklet will also assist examiners in preparing examination papers that meet the curriculum standards. The formats are also expected to assist teachers and students in meeting syllabus requirements for successful syllabus coverage and knowledge and skill growth.
Furthermore, these Examination Formats are designed to be utilized in conjunction with the syllabuses. As a result, they should not be used to replace topic curricula. NECTA Matokeo YA Form Four 2022
